Magnesium (Mg)

Magnesium (Mg) is an important plant nutrient and is present in every chlorophyll molecule – which is essential for photosynthesis (the conversion of water and carbon dioxide into sugars). A lack of Magnesium causes yellowing between leaf veins, especially on older leaves. Magnesium is mobile in the plant and available to young leaves first and hence deficiency is seen in older leaves than younger leaves. For details on deficiency symptoms please visit ” About Trace elements ” menu.

Products supplying Magnesium(Mg)

Magnesium is commonly supplemented through Magnesium Sulphate, which is also commonly know as ‘Epsom salt’. Manutec Epsom salt is available in 500g & 1kg packs.

Magnesium Nitrate is another good source of soluble Magnesium which also supplies Nitrogen in the form of nitrate. This is highly soluble and very effective and suitable for hydroponic systems supplying Magnesium and nitrogen together. Please note that this product is very hygroscopic and we suggest keep the contents airtight by closing/resealing the bag after use.

Please note that all Manutec Soluble Trace elements products are of high analysis and provide an excellent value for money. They are easy to dissolve in water and apply. Dissolve yourself and avoid wasting money on buying diluted low analysis liquid products.

Note: Though foliar sprays provide a quick relief due to fast absorption and action, the relief to the plants will be very temporary, once the nutrients are utilised, plants will again hunt for nutrients from the soil, so it is always advisable also to supplement soils regularly to avoid severity of deficiency. Apply dissolved solution enough to saturate soil soil surrounding roots or drip zone.
